Dr. Sean English is a board-certified vascular surgeon specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of complex arterial and venous disease using advanced open, endovascular, and minimally invasive techniques. He is dedicated to providing personalized, compassionate care while helping patients achieve the best possible outcomes through innovative treatment options.
With specialized expertise in aortic aneurysm and dissection repair, carotid artery disease, peripheral artery disease, limb salvage, dialysis access, deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, and venous disease, Dr. English treats the full spectrum of vascular conditions. His approach combines evidence-based medicine with the latest advancements in vascular surgery to restore circulation, preserve limbs, and improve quality of life.
Education and Training
Dr. English earned his undergraduate degree in Physics from The College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio before receiving his medical degree from the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He completed his General Surgery Residency at the University of Michigan Health System in Ann Arbor, followed by an advanced Vascular and Endovascular Surgery Fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School in Boston.
His extensive training at some of the nation’s leading academic medical centers has provided him with expertise in both complex open vascular procedures and the latest minimally invasive endovascular techniques.
Certifications and Research
Dr. English is board certified in Vascular Surgery and is a Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation (RPVI).
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. English has made significant contributions to vascular research. He has received numerous prestigious honors, including the National Institutes of Health Research Training Award, the Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service F32 Award, the Society for Vascular Surgery Foundation Clinical Research Seed Grant, and the 2017 UCSF Wylie Scholar Vascular Surgery Research Award. He also led an NIH R01-funded research laboratory focused on understanding abdominal aortic aneurysm development and rupture, helping advance the science behind vascular disease treatment.
